Chronic lung abscess
The specimen shows a section of the lung containing a cavity filled with creamy grey masses. The walls of the cavity are rough, uneven, and composed of fibrous tissue. This is an example of exudative (suppurative) inflammation with a chronic course. Consequences: a chronic abscess can serve as a source of spreading purulent inflammation to other Organs, leading to Sepsis.
