Medical Radiology - Lazar A.P. 2008
Preface
In recent times, we have been witnessing rapid technological progress across various fields of medicine, including radiology. The vast majority of hospitals are equipped with modern machinery that utilizes radiation energy for the medical imaging of various diseases and patient Treatment. There is virtually no branch of clinical or theoretical medicine where radiology is not employed to some degree for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. Therefore, an understanding of the fundamentals of diagnostic radiology and Radiation therapy is essential for every modern physician, regardless of their specialization.
Modern medical radiology is a strictly clinical medical discipline. It enriches medicine with objective data for disease recognition and offers new possibilities for treatment. Radiation imaging Methods not only help detect morphological and functional disorders in various pathologies but also make it possible to monitor the course of the pathological process during treatment.
The Need for a modern radiology textbook for medical universities in Ukraine has been long overdue. We congratulate the authors on creating a Ukrainian textbook on medical radiology for students of higher medical educational institutions, which incorporates the latest advancements in this field.
It is evident that during the creation of this textbook, great emphasis was placed on conciseness and accessibility, as well as precision and clarity of information. Its value is further enhanced by the systematic and sequential presentation of the material.
Although the textbook is primarily intended for students, there is no doubt that it will also be of interest to physicians of various specialties who frequently encounter the clinical application of various Diagnostic imaging methods in their practice. To a certain extent, this also applies to radiation therapy methods, which are invaluable in treating oncological diseases—the incidence of which has been steadily rising worldwide in recent times.
Only through independent work with a book can a physician become well-rounded and educated; therefore, it is our sincere hope that this textbook will find a prominent place in the personal library of every medical student.
