Muscles producing movements of the thumb at the first carpometacarpal joint:

opposition:

1) opponens pollicis Muscle; flexion:

1) flexor pollicis longus muscle;

extension:

1) extensor pollicis longus muscle;

2) extensor pollicis brevis muscle;

abduction:

1) abductor pollicis longus muscle;

2) abductor pollicis brevis muscle;

adduction:

Muscles producing Movements of the II–V digits: flexion:

1) flexor digitorum superficialis muscle;

2) flexor digitorum profundus muscle;

3) interossei muscles (flex the proximal Phalanges of the II–V digits)

4) lumbrical muscles (flex the proximal phalanges of the II–V digits)

5) flexor digiti minimi brevis muscle;

extension:

1) extensor digitorum muscle;

2) extensor indicis muscle (extends the index finger);

3) extensor digiti minimi muscle (extends the little finger);

4) dorsal interossei (extend the middle and distal phalanges of the II–V digits); adduction toward the middle finger:
