Anterior Muscle Group of the Forearm

The Anterior Group of forearm Muscles is represented by 9 muscles arranged in 4 layers (Fig. 118). The first, superficial layer is formed by the following muscles: the brachioradialis, the pronator teres, the flexor carpi radialis, the palmaris longus, and the flexor carpi ulnaris; the second layer consists of a single superficial Muscle, the flexor digitorum superficialis; the third layer is formed by two muscles, the flexor digitorum profundus and the flexor pollicis longus; and the deepest, fourth layer is represented by the pronator quadratus.
