Muscles and fascia of the head
Regions of the head proper
The frontal region (regio frontalis) is unpaired; it is bounded inferiorly by the supraorbital margin of the Frontal bone, superiorly by the parietal margin of the frontal bone, and laterally by the temporal lines of the same bone.
The parietal region (regio parietalis) is unpaired and corresponds to the contours of the parietal bones.
The occipital region (regio occipitalis) is unpaired; it is bounded anteriorly by the lambdoid margin of the Occipital bone, posteriorly by the superior nuchal line and the external occipital protuberance, and laterally by the superior temporal line.
The temporal region (regio temporalis) is paired and anatomically the most complex. It is bounded anteriorly by the zygomatic process of the frontal bone and the frontal process of the Zygomatic bone, inferiorly by the zygomatic arch, and superiorly and posteriorly by the superior temporal line.
