INFERTILITY
2. MALE INFERTILITY
Male Infertility refers to a man's inability to achieve conception (impotentia generandi) despite normal sexual intercourse. Infertile marriages account for about 15% worldwide, with 40–50% of these cases attributed to male factor infertility (O.F. Vozianov). It arises from pathological body processes that cause dystrophic Changes in the seminiferous tubules and the interstitial tissue of the Testes, leading to seminal fluid abnormalities and impaired secretion by the reproductive Organs.
The causes of male infertility can be divided into three groups: a) endocrine disorders, congenital sex differentiation disorders, immunological abnormalities, and neuropsychiatric diseases; b) anomalies and Diseases of the Male reproductive organs that disrupt Spermatogenesis or cause complete or partial impairment in The excretion of the ejaculate or its components; c) relative (idiopathic) infertility, where conception does not occur despite both partners being healthy.
In men suffering from infertility, regardless of the underlying cause, morphological changes are identical: damage to the spermatogenic epithelium is invariably accompanied by a disruption of the Blood-Testis barrier. Severe damage to this barrier results in irreversible infertility that does not respond to either conservative or Surgical Treatment.
