Slide 5. Glycogen inclusions in liver cells.
Staining: Best's carmine.
Magnification: x400.
The Cells are polygonal in shape. Select a group of cells whose Cytoplasm clearly shows dark pink clusters. Examine under high magnification. The nuclei (1) of the Liver cells are round and dark violet in color. In the unstained cytoplasm, we observe clumps of various sizes (2). These are Glycogen inclusions. They may be distributed evenly throughout the cytoplasm or clustered near one of The Cell poles.
