This is a whole-mount slide clearly demonstrating all PARTS OF THE Neurons stained in dark brown. Clusters of neurons are referred to as intramural ganglia (1). Neuronal processes extend from ganglion to ganglion, together forming interganglionic strands (2). Most of the ganglionic neurons are Dogiel type II Cells (3), which are afferent neurons with long processes, making it difficult to distinguish the axon. Dogiel type I neurons (4) are less frequently observed; these are efferent neurons featuring short dendrites and a long axon. Gliocytes (5) are located among the neurons, with only their nuclei staining distinctly.
