The wall of the Uterine tube consists of mucosal, muscular, and serous tunics. The mucosa (1) forms branching folds—primary, secondary, and tertiary. The core of these folds is composed of loose Connective Tissue, known as the lamina propria (2). The epithelium covering the folds (3) is simple columnar, comprising ciliated Cells, tubal secretory cells (peg cells), intercalated cells, and reserve cells. The submucosa is absent; therefore, the lamina propria directly abuts the muscular layer. The latter

is composed of two smooth Muscle layers: an inner circular layer (4) and an outer oblique-to-longitudinal layer (5). A broad intermuscular layer of loose connective tissue lies between the two muscle layers. Externally, the uterine tube is covered by a serous tunic consisting of mesothelium resting on underlying connective tissue (6).
