Injection of Blood Vessels with carmine-gelatin.

Magnification: x80.

To prepare this slide, a gelatin mass stained red with carmine was injected into the portal vein. This allows visualizing the entire venous System of the Liver.

At low magnification, one can observe large branches of interlobular Veins (1) located occasionally within interlobular

Connective Tissue septa. Smaller interlobular veins (2) surround the lobules. Sinusoids (3) stand out clearly against the Background of unstained lobules, in the center of which cross-sectioned central veins (4) are located. In certain areas of the slide, collecting veins (5) can be distinguished; they differ from interlobular veins by a larger diameter and the absence of branches.
