Subclass Rosidae

Trees, shrubs, or herbs with simple, pinnately, or rarely palmately compound leaves with or without stipules. Flowers bisexual, rarely unisexual, actinomorphic or zygomorphic, cyclic, typically with a cyclic receptacle, solitary or arranged in inflorescences. Petals free or more or less connate. Stamens ranging from few to numerous. Gynoecium apocarpous or, more frequently, coenocarpous. Ovary superior, half-inferior, or inferior. Fruits of various types.

This subclass is one of the largest within the Class Dicotyledones. It comprises 39 orders, 64 families, and over 55,000 species distributed across both hemispheres. In the flora of Ukraine, the subclass Rosidae is represented by 22 orders, 44 families, and about 1,180 species.
