Peptide Synthesis
Protection of the Carboxyl Group
Protection of the Carboxyl Group via Salt Formation
Protection of the carboxyl group via salt formation is the simplest method. Such protection is easily achieved and yields almost quantitative results. Amino acid salts are soluble only in Water, which complicates the subsequent use of these salts in Peptide Synthesis. Therefore, salt formation is rarely used as a method for Carboxyl Group Protection. In any case, it cannot be recommended as a general C-protection method.
