Threonine dehydratase

While Threonine dehydratases from most Bacteria require PLP, the Enzymes from Pseudomonas putida [59] and sheep Liver function without PLP. The cofactor in sheep liver threonine dehydratase is an α-ketobutyryl group [60] (the reader might ponder from which amino acid this prosthetic group is derived)1).

1) A relatively recently published paper [60a] reports, however, that the coenzyme is PLP. It is possible that Two Types of Isoenzymes exist.
