In previous chapters, we examined the physical and Chemical properties of Proteins and the relationship between protein Structure and function. Chapters 5 and 11 discuss the General Properties of Enzymes and the energy changes that typically accompany biochemical reactions, most of which are catalyzed by specific enzymes. In this chapter, we will explore the Chemical Nature of Enzymatic Catalysis and The Nature of enzyme-substrate interactions responsible for the Specificity of these biological catalysts.
