PHYLUM MYXOZOA (MYXOSPORIDIA)
Tissue or cavity parasites of fish and other cold-blooded vertebrates, less commonly of invertebrates. About a thousand species are known. The phylum includes a single Class — Myxosporea.
The most Characteristic Features of the phylum include the presence of multinucleate vegetative stages, such as amoeboid plasmodia; The formation of spores consisting of several Cells; and a specific life cycle involving gametic chromosome reduction.
