Regulation of Gene Expression
Global Regulation of Translation in Eukaryotes

Global regulation controls the Introduction/27.html">Translation of the entire mRNA pool. Total suppression of mRNA Translation occurs As a result of eIF2 initiation factor phosphorylation upon protein kinase activation. Phosphorylation of eIF2 leads to the inhibition of Translation initiation for all mRNAs.

Protein kinase activation can be triggered by heat Shock, growth factor deprivation, amino acid starvation, iron deficiency, viral infections, etc.
