Toxic Liver Dystrophy

This is an acute condition characterized by progressive massive hepatic necrosis and Liver failure. The liver is enlarged, flabby in consistency, and yellow in color. This is accompanied by hyperplasia of the periportal Lymph Nodes AND the Spleen, numerous hemorrhages in the Skin, mucous and serous membranes, and Lungs, Necrosis of the renal epithelium, as well as degenerative Changes in the Pancreas, myocardium, and Central Nervous system. Patients die from acute hepatic or renal failure (hepatorenal syndrome).
