Acute Gastric Ulcer

The gastric wall exhibits a defect extending to the serous membrane. The condition can be triggered by various stress-related factors. These ulcers develop As a result of mucosal ischemia, which compromises its resistance to gastric acid. As the disease progresses, erosions—particularly along the lesser curvature—fail to heal. Under the action of gastric juice, the deeper layers of the gastric wall undergo further necrosis, transforming the erosion into an acute round or oval peptic ulcer (ulcus acutum pepticum).
