Pulmonary Embolism

Causes: 1. Detachment of a thrombus from the Veins OF THE lower extremities in varicose veins. 2. Thrombus from the pelvic Blood Vessels following surgical interventions. 3. Stagnant thrombi in chronic Heart Failure. Pulmonary embolism frequently develops in the postoperative period. Consequences: 1. Pulmonary infarction. 2. Death from pulmocoronary Shock.
