Chapter 2. ORGANIZATION OF SPECIALIZED GYNECOLOGICAL CARE FOR ADOLESCENT GIRLS IN UKRAINE

ORGANIZATION OF WORK OF A PEDIATRIC AND ADOLESCENT GYNECOLOGIST

THE POSITION OF a PEDIATRIC AND ADOLESCENT gynecologist is appointed to an obstetrician-gynecologist who has specialized in pediatric and adolescent gynecology.

The position of a pediatric gynecologist is established within the staffing schedule of a medical institution (department) in the prescribed manner, at a rate of 0.5 positions per 10,000 adolescent girls, but at least one full-time staff position at the central district hospital level.

Taking into account the specifics of gynecological examinations of girls, the physician's workload is set at 5 patients per hour, and for routine check-ups — 8 patients per hour. The outpatient appointments of the gynecologist are conducted for 5 hours and 30 minutes, in accordance with the working hours of a medical specialist.

Main tasks of the pediatric and adolescent gynecologist:

— Diagnosis and Treatment of disorders and Diseases of the Reproductive System in girls;

— conducting preventive check-ups to prevent gynecological morbidity and carrying out educational work on sex education in preparing girls for motherhood.

In accordance with the main objective, the pediatric and adolescent gynecologist performs the following duties:

1. Organizes timely diagnosis and provides treatment for gynecological diseases in children and adolescents.

2. Collaborates with the adolescent therapist to participate in organizing and conducting preventive screenings among adolescents in schools, colleges, and other educational institutions.

3. Provides dispensary follow-up for adolescent girls with gynecological conditions, implementing comprehensive therapeutic and health-improving measures.

4. Conducts information, educational, and methodological activities among adolescent girls regarding sexual development, preparation for family life, and Prevention of unplanned pregnancies.

5. Evaluates the morbidity rates of adolescent girls and analyzes the causes and consequences of abortions among them.

6. Develops and implements specific measures aimed at improving the health of girls who have initiated early sexual activity. A total of 4 hours per week of working hours is allocated for preventive, educational, and instructional activities (with mandatory reporting).

7. Works in close cooperation with specialists of the given healthcare facility, adolescent medicine therapists, educators, and administrators of preschools, schools, and colleges.

8. The work schedule of the pediatric and adolescent gynecologist is structured to ensure outpatient consultations, inpatient consultations, as well as preventive, educational, and instructional activities.

9. Is required to continuously upgrade professional qualifications in the specialty "Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology" (once every 5 years).

10. Reports on their work to the administration of the healthcare facility and systematically informs the chief health authorities' specialists about the health status of the served region's adolescent girls.

11. The pediatric and adolescent gynecologist reports directly to the HEAD of the healthcare facility.
