Induced abortion
Artificial termination of pregnancy up to 12 weeks
Vacuum-excochleation
Vacuum excochleation during Induced abortion is performed using tips connected to a vacuum pump. This creates a negative pressure of 0.5–0.6 atm in the Uterus. Once the ovum is removed, the uterine walls are revised by curettage using No. 4 and No. 2 curettes. A vacuum pump is also used to perform the so-called mini-abortion. The ovum is removed using a vacuum apparatus when menstruation is delayed by no more than 15–20 days. This Procedure can be performed in an outpatient antenatal clinic.
