Colpomicroscopy

Colpomicroscopy is an in vivo histological examination of the cervical mucosa, in which the tissue is examined in incident light. The method was proposed by T. Antoine et al. The Procedure utilizes a colpomicroscope, an instrument that allows surface areas to be viewed at a magnification of 160–280x, with an exploration depth of 70 μm. It enables the evaluation of the Structural Features of nuclei and Cytoplasm in the superficial epithelial layers.
