Circulatory Routes – The Cardiac Circulation

It originates from the right and left coronary Arteries, a. coronaria dextra et sinistra, which branch off from the aortic bulb, bulbus aortae, and terminates in the cardiac Veins. The cardiac veins empty into the coronary sinus, sinus coronarius, which in turn drains into the right atrium. Smaller cardiac veins empty directly into the right atrium.

*The systemic Circulation was discovered by the English scientist William Harvey (1628).

** The Pulmonary Circulation was discovered by the Spanish physician Michael Servetus (1553).
