The association areas of the Brain consist of Association Pathways connecting motor and sensory areas. The association cortex occupies the major part of the lateral surface of the occipital, parietal, and temporal lobes, as well as the frontal lobes anterior to the motor areas. Association areas are responsible for memory, emotion, thinking, volition, judgment, individual characteristics, and intelligence.
