Lower limb girdle - Hip bone

The ischium, os ischii (ischium) (LNA), consists of the body, corpus ischii, and the ramus, ramus ischii (see Fig. 67). The body of the bone forms the posteroinferior part of the acetabulum. On the posterior surface of the body, there is the lesser sciatic notch, incisura ischiadica [ischialis] minor, and above it lies the greater sciatic notch, incisura ischiadica [ischialis] major. At the transition area from the body to the ramus is the ischial tuberosity, tuber ischiadicum.
