Trachea

The Trachea begins at the lower part of the Larynx, descends into the thoracic cavity, where it divides into two main Bronchi, forming the bifurcation, bifurcatio tracheae (Fig. 287). Thus, a smaller cervical part, pars cervicalis, and a larger thoracic part, pars thoracica, are distinguished. The total length of the trachea is 8–13 cm, with a diameter of 15–25 mm. In men, the trachea is generally larger than in women.
