The Current Stage of Development of General and Medical Biology
It is characterized by a deepening differentiation and integration of biological sciences with related fields, as well as the penetration of molecular-genetic Research Methods into all its branches. Consequently, several independent disciplines have emerged: molecular biology, Molecular Genetics, bionics (applying the organizational and functional principles of living organisms to solve engineering problems), radiation biology, space biology (investigating the problems of life in outer space), bioinformatics (studying information processes in living systems), bioethics (examining moral issues regarding living organisms and Life as a whole), biocybernetics (studying control principles in living systems), and Genomics (focusing on Gene mapping), alongside the ongoing establishment of Proteomics (focusing on protein profiling). Earlier established sciences include biochemistry (investigating Chemical Reactions in living organisms) and biophysics (studying physical processes in living organisms). At the present stage of biological development, physicochemical research methods are widely applied.
