2. DELAYED-TYPE HYPERSENSITIVITY REACTIONS

Delayed-type allergic reactions are of great importance in infectious allergy. A classic example of delayed-type hypersensitivity is the tuberculin reaction. At the site of tuberculin administration, signs of the reaction appear only after several hours, reaching a maximum in 24–48 hours. Inflammation develops, and tissue necrosis is possible.

Delayed-type allergic reactions are also observed in Syphilis, mycoses, parasitic diseases, and viral infections. Delayed-type reactions can be triggered by chemical substances. Contact dermatitis develops As a result of their contact with the Skin.
