The section passes along the Haversian canals and osteons. Osteon lamellae (1) are arranged in parallel. Bone cavities (lacunae) containing osteocytes (2) are located between the lamellae.
This slide demonstrates Blood Vessels (3) in the center of the osteons and perforating vessels (4) occupying the so-called Volkmann's canals. Perforating vessels represent anastomoses (connections) between individual blood vessels.
