The specimen is a thin film – the epidermis of an onion scale.

Under low magnification, we observe that this film consists of elongated rectangular cells (1) that fit closely together. Plant cells have a thick Cell wall (2) composed of a thin surface layer and a secondary Cellulose wall. Therefore, The plant cell wall exhibits a double contour. The Cell Cytoplasm (3) is pale pink. The nuclei (4) are round with 1–2 nucleoli and small clumps of Chromatin.
