The slide shows: individual oocytes with a single Nucleus (1) surrounded by spermatozoa (2); oocytes penetrated by a spermatozoon (3). In the latter, two nuclei can be distinguished — a larger one (female) and a smaller one (male, contributed by the spermatozoon). The nuclei are located at a certain distance from each other.
