WORKSHOP ON HISTOLOGY, CYTOLOGY AND EMBRYOLOGY - 2016
Chapter 5. SPECIAL HISTOLOGY
Respiratory Organs
Slide 114. Trachea.
Staining: hematoxylin and eosin.
Magnification: x80.
In cross-section, the following layers are visible: the internal (respiratory, mucosal), the submucosal layer (submucosa), the fibro-musculo-cartilaginous, and the adventitial layer.
The mucous membrane is lined with pseudostratified (ciliated) epithelium (1), where goblet Cells (2) are clearly outlined. Interspersed among them are ciliated, basal, and endocrine cells. The lamina propria of the mucosa (3) is not demarcated
from the submucosa (4). Occasional lymphoid nodules can be found within it. The muscularis mucosae is absent.
In the submucosa (4), we observe the terminal secretory units of the tracheal seromucous glands (5). The loose Connective Tissue of the submucosa transitions into the perichondrium (6) of the hyaline Cartilage rings, which form The basis of the fibro-musculo-cartilaginous tunic of the Trachea (7). The perichondrium is stained pink. The cartilage is characterized by varying degrees of basophilia in the intercellular matrix and the typical arrangement of chondrocytes in isogenous groups (8). The perichondrium on the outer surface of the cartilage transitions into the loose connective tissue of the adventitia (9). On the posterior wall of television, where cartilage is absent, There is a layer of smooth myocytes.
