BOTANY WITH BASICS OF HYDROBOTANY (AQUATIC PLANTS OF UKRAINE) - B.Ye. Yakubenko - 2011

X. SEED PLANTS

Subclass Magnoliidae

Trees, shrubs, woody lianas, and herbs exhibiting A number of extremely archaic, primitive features: acyclic, hemicyclic, and less commonly cyclic flowers with brightly colored simple or double perianths featuring numerous stamens arranged in a specific sequence; the gynoecium is typically apocarpous, rarely syncarpous; mature pollen grains are bi- or tricellular.

The subclass includes 16 orders, eight of which are trees, shrubs, or woody lianas, while the rest are herbaceous plants (terrestrial or aquatic perennial rhizomatous or even achlorophyllous parasitic herbs living on the roots of host plants). Representatives of five orders are known in Ukraine, three of which represent native flora plants, while the other two are represented by introduced species (from Latin introductio - Introduction).
