7.9.2. Net Result of the C4 Pathway

The net result of the C4 pathway is the Transport of Carbon dioxide and hydrogen from mesophyll Cells into the METABOLISM/14.html">Chloroplasts of bundle sheath cells, utilizing two high-energy phosphate bonds of ATP. Since this transport requires ATP energy, the operation of this mechanism can well be compared to that of a pump.
