Blood Coagulation System - Platelet Factors

Along with plasma factors, platelet-associated factors are involved in Blood Coagulation. About 10 such factors are known. The exact role of all of them is not fully understood, but the most important ones include:

Factor 1 – proaccelerin adsorbed on the platelet surface. About 5% of all blood proaccelerin is associated with platelets.

Factor 3 – one of the most crucial Components of the BLOOD COAGULATION SYSTEM, essential for The conversion of prothrombin into Thrombin.

Factor 4 – antiheparin factor. It inhibits the anti-thromboplastic and anti-thrombotic effects of heparin and actively participates in platelet aggregation.

Factor 8 – thrombosthenin. It is involved in thrombus retraction, is highly labile, and exhibits ATPase activity.
