α-Alanine

Alanine and Glycine account for a significant portion of amine nitrogen in human plasma. Alanine is a major component of bacterial Cell walls, partially in the form of the D-isomer, the content of which ranges from 39 to 50% in Streptococcus faecalis and 67% in Staphylococcus aureus.
