Asparagine and Aspartate
All four carbons of asparagine and aspartate are converted into oxaloacetate with the participation of asparaginase and transaminase (Fig. 31.2, top).
No Metabolic Disorders have been identified in this short segment of the catabolic pathway; any defect in transaminase function is presumably incompatible with Cell viability. Transaminases perform key anabolic and catabolic Functions in the METABOLISM of various Amino Acids (see Chapter 29 and the text below).
