Deep-sea tropical marine jellyfish. The bell is cubic in shape with four tentacles (Fig. 88). Unlike scyphozoans, they lack radial canals, a function fulfilled by large gastric pockets. Cubozoans also differ in their metamorphosis: the polyp developing from a planula buds off numerous daughter individuals, each of which transforms into a jellyfish.
