Focal Pneumonia

Bronchopneumonia is characterized by multiple lesions of the lung tissue centered around inflamed Bronchi or bronchioles, with the process extending to the surrounding alveoli. This type of pneumonia most commonly occurs in children, the elderly, and patients with compromised resistance (e.g., those with malignancies, Heart Failure, chronic renal failure, etc.). Bronchopneumonia may also develop as a complication of acute Bronchitis, cystic fibrosis, and other conditions.
