Kidney abscess
The specimen shows a section of the kidney with a cavity in its upper pole filled with creamy grey masses. The wall of the chronic abscess consists of three layers: the inner layer is the pyogenic membrane, the middle layer is granulation tissue, and the outer layer is fibrous tissue.
