Gastric mucosal varices

Visible features: dilated Veins in the submucosal layer, with mucosal atrophy. Causes: impaired hepatic Blood Circulation associated with portal cirrhosis. As a result, portosystemic anastomoses open up. Such veins are a frequent source of hemorrhages.
