Transmural myocardial infarction
Macroscopically: an area of the left ventricular wall is dark red in color, with the myocardial lesion extending through the entire thickness of the wall. Causes: Impaired Blood supply due to coronary artery thrombosis or spasm. Consequences: predominantly results in myomalacia (rupture of The Heart wall). Connective Tissue proliferation, acute Heart Failure, and rhythm disturbances with heart block may also develop.
