Myocardial infarction with mural thrombi
Visible features: altered dark coloration of the left ventricular Heart wall. Thrombus masses are deposited on the endocardial surface in these areas. Causes: endocardial injury leads to the accumulation of tissue thrombokinase, which activates and triggers the thrombosis mechanism. Consequences: mural thrombi can be a source of systemic thromboembolism.
