Gene Interaction

The genotype is not a mechanical collection of genes, but a unified, integrated system of interacting genes that evolved under the control of natural Selection. In this system, each gene affects the entire system, and the entire system affects each gene. Gene interactions occur at several levels: directly within the cellular genetic material, and between gene products (Ribonucleic Acids, Polypeptides, and enzyme Proteins of a single metabolic cycle). Gene interaction forms the basis for The Development of complex traits. A distinction is made between the Interaction of Allelic and non-allelic genes.
