The potential of ATP transfer is not easily measured, and the values obtained by various authors differ significantly. According to George et al. [15], ∆G0 for reactions (3-42) is —39.9 kJ∙mol-1 at 25°C, μ = 0.2, and —41.25 kJ∙mol-1 at infinite dilution. They estimated the accuracy of their data to be ±4 kJ∙mol-1. However, according to estimates by many other authors [17–21], including data recently obtained by Guynn and Veech [11], these values are at least 4 kJ∙mol-1 less negative. The internally consistent set of thermodynamic data used throughout this book is based in part on the value of ∆G for ATP Hydrolysis obtained in [11].
