Nucleic Acid Biochemistry lies at the very Heart of genetics, while genetic approaches have, in turn, proven fruitful for many areas of biochemistry. Physiology, the science of organismal function, heavily overlaps with biochemistry. Immunology employs a wide array of Biochemical Methods, and conversely, many immunological approaches are widely used by biochemists. Pharmacology and pharmacy are grounded in biochemistry and physiology, as the METABOLISM of most drugs occurs via specific enzymatic reactions. Poisons affect biochemical reactions or processes, forming the core Subject Matter of toxicology. As noted previously, various pathologies are fundamentally rooted in the disruption of specific chemical processes. This drives the increasingly widespread application of biochemical approaches to study diverse pathological conditions (such as inflammatory processes, Cell damage, and Cancer). Many researchers in zoology and botany extensively incorporate biochemical approaches into their work. These interconnections are hardly surprising since, as we know, life in all its manifestations depends on a myriad of biochemical reactions and processes. The boundaries that once divided the biological sciences have virtually dissolved, and biochemistry is increasingly becoming their common language.
