To wash the Column after interaction with FITC, methanol and 1,2-dichloroethane are usually used, the latter of which can be replaced by benzene. One of the recently proposed Microscale analysis protocols uses only methanol [52]. Higher yields are obtained using 0.2% propylamine in methanol. In this case, the buffer is added in portions, with nitrogen purging of the column in between (Fig. 12.5).
