Protein dystrophy of the Liver

An example of parenchymatous dysproteinemia characterized by the accumulation of protein granules within hepatocytes. The liver is enlarged, flabby, and gray-yellow in color. Causes include Hypoxia, intoxication, infectious diseases (such as Viral Hepatitis), and metabolic-endocrine disorders. Consequences: reduced liver function; if the condition progresses, destructive changes develop, eventually leading to cirrhosis.
